Marketing exec and amateur actor Brad Hall was working on a trade stall at Trout ‘n’ About 2025 when he took a wander up the High Street during his lunch break.

He fell into conversation with members of the Stockbridge Amateur Dramatic Society on their stall.

Fast forward to last month… and Brad was one of the stars of SADS summer production of Oscar Wilde’s satirical comedy The Importance of Being Earnest!

“We’re a very friendly group,” said Sarah Litton, who has been Chair of SADS since May last year.

“We really want to attract new members - in particular young actors, so we can cast a greater variety of plays.

“I have high hopes for future productions. In fact… I feel we’re on the cusp of something big!”

Earlier this month, SADS staged a production of The Importance of Being Earnest, to hugely appreciative audiences, in the garden of The Burrows at Longstock. Brad played fasionable young gentleman Algernon Moncrieff.

Cast members will perform two short extracts from the play at Trout ‘n’ About 2026, on the High Street, by the SADS pitch outside the Clois Du Marquis French restaurant.

At 12.30, Craig Daniels and Kirsty Schneeberger will play Jack Worthing and Gwendolen Fairfax, in the Act One ‘Proposal Scene’.

At 2.15, Anthea Coulson will play Lady Bracknell in the play’s famous ‘Handbag Scene’.

Anthea will also be on hand afterwards to talk about SADS - and playing the role of Lady Bracknell.

Other SADS members will be on the stand, throughout T’n’A.

“We’re also really keen to talk to anyone who can get involved with lights, sounds and costumes,” added Sarah.

“We want SADS to become a vibrant, engaging community of actors that creates entertaining, challenging, thoughtful and funny productions and events.”

Auditions for the next SADS production A Christmas Carol take place on September 1 and 3. Performances are on November 26, 27 and 28.

The SADS children’s summer school ‘Play In A Week’ runs between August 3 and 7.
