New pub to open on Stockbridge High Street, for Trout ‘n’ About

The Tipsy Trout pub will be open for business outside Prego Deli, on Stockbridge High Street

Trout ‘n’ About visitors who nip into one High Street pub for a swift drink could be forgiven for fearing they’re already slightly the worse for wear

Because drinkers at The Tipsy Trout may not realise that the newest bar in Stockbridge is actually… inflatable!

Weather permitting, the pop-up pub - measuring 21ft by 16ft and serving up to 50 drinkers - will open for one day only, during this year’s Trout ‘n’ About.

Two huge air pumps will keep The Trout - which is 20 ft tall, with a vaulted ceiling - inflated all day, outside Prego Deli.

It’s the idea of enterprising restaurateurs Dave and Mandy Buck, who will serve as landlord and landlady of what is believed to be Stockbridge’s first micropub.

There will even be a doorman on hand - Dave and Mandy’s 86-year-old neighbour The Colonel - to ensure drinkers at The Trout maintain the best of order.

“It’s going to be absolutely brilliant,” said Dave.

“Trout ‘n’ About is all about community spirit and having fun - and so is The Tipsy Trout! We’re looking forward to a fantastic day.”

Outside of The Trout, visitors will also be able to cool off with a cornet from Prego’s gelato mobile ice cream cart.

And coffees and conolli (Italian pastries) will be served over the counter from the deli.

Dave said: “Trout ‘n’ About raises so much money for local good causes… supporting it is just the right thing to do.”

The Tipsy Trout is schedued to open its doors for business on Stockbridge High Street at 10am, on Sunday August 2.

Dave and Mandy are praying for good weather - as windy conditions may mean they won’t be able to inflate their pub!
