Trout n’ About welcomes back the Kalyna Ukrainian choir
The acclaimed Kalyna Ukrainian choir will perform at Trout n’ About again this year.
The Winchester-based singers first brought their unique blend of folk music and choral tradition to Stockbridge last summer.
Now the choir – known for their rich harmonies and evocative performances of Ukrainian folk and sacred music – will perform at TnA again on Sunday, August 3.
Their performance, on Festival Field, will be another poignant cultural occasion, highlighting Ukraine’s artistic heritage during conflict in their homeland.
Stockbridge has well-established links with the Ukraine. For the last three years – since the Russian invasion – the Stockbridge-Ukraine organisation has been collecting money to send medical supplies and life-saving equipment to the frontline.
Stockbridge and surrounding villages also play host to a number of Ukrainian families, many of who work in local businesses.
“We’ve established lots or personal contacts with people in Ukraine,” said Sally Milligan, of Stockbridge Ukraine.
“We’ve raised money [for aid] including for vital prosthetics [for soldiers and civilians injured in the fighting] and for antenna that give warnings of in-coming missiles.”
Last year, TnA made a donation to Stockbridge Ukraine.
Sally added: “Trout n’ About is a fantasic event. And its generosity is hugely appreciated.”
The Kalyna Choir will be on stage, in the Festival Field, at 1.30pm.
